Preposition merupakan kata depan yang selalu diikuti oleh kata kata benda (noun) atau kata ganti (pronoun). Preposition tersebut biasanya menunjukkan hubungan seperti→ posisi (position), tempat (place), arah (direction), waktu (time), cara (manner), agen (agent), pemilikan (possessions), dan kondisi (condition). Noun mau pun pronoun yang mengikuti preposition tersebut adalah objek dari preposition tersebut. Sedangkan pronoun yang digunakan adalah object pronoun→ me, you, him, her, it, us, dan them.
